Culture in the digital age brief

AC1 Informing ideas

Context- Explore and develop ideas for media products or visual art and design work relating to the theme of 'culture in the digital age', capturing the culture of young people.

Requirements- The responses can be in a short media product or a series of experimental clips that could be developed further.

Audience- The primary audience is aged from 13-19. The aim is to engage young people and encourage them to think about the impact of the digital age in modern day society.

Client-CMP media

Duration- The documentary will be 5-15 minutes long

Qualitative research

Short documentary research- I watched a short documentary about culture in the digital age. The documentary was about 5 minutes long. It had a very short interview and the majority of the documentary was a voice over explaining how phones and social media have changed modern day life. The documentary was easy to understand and it had a lot of detail in considering it was only on for 5 minutes. The creator added pictures that weren't his and he used them to show the point that he was making. The voice over was very informative and had a lot of interesting points. The creator also used a time-lapse video of someone using a phone in public to show how technology has changed.

Quantitative research

I have created a questionnaire that is about culture in the digital age and it also has questions about the cinema industry in the digital age.

Mind maps- I have made 2 mind maps to show what I am going to research. This is a good way to show the different points that I will be researching.

AC2 Problem Solving

Chosen idea

For my final idea I've chosen the second mind map as it has more ideas that I can research into detail for. Also it has more relevance towards the brief as the main points are about how the digital age has had an effect on modern day life.
